doc severinsen is an accomplished american jazz/pop trumpet player, and as a band leader gained considerable notoriety on the tonight show with johnny carson. like most musicians in the 70s, doc took his shot at the disco and funk sounds of the time, gathered stellar musicians, and released impeccably sounding works. two of these cuts, be with you and shine on me are featured on this release. harvey s unfailing magic touch has yielded two dj-friendly edits with a lot of punch and galactic energy, yet with a velvet undertone. staying true to the mission, the label took great care throughout the production process in order to preserve the quality of the original recordings.

after retiring from the jamaican police force arthur duke reid established his treasure isle liquor store and sound system in pink lane kingston and was crowned the undisputed king of sound and blues in 1956, 57 and in 58. the duke then moved into record production and after relocating the store to 33 bond street, he then built a recording studio on top of his new premises in 1966. according to the musicians and singers the wooden construction of the treasure isle recording studio gave the music a distinctive warmth and richness and with resident engineer byron baron/smithy smith at the controls, the sound of a bond street recording was immediately recognisable.

the two brothers of gebrÜder teichmann have been regular guests at the early killekill events. that is because they have a very similar approach to electronic music as we do. first of all they are deeply in love with the music itself and not the fame, the money or whatever one might expect to get when making music, and second they have a wide musical horizon and interesting perspectives on it, because they are active on several levels, as djs, musicians, promoters etc. first of all though they got class and taste, and so we are happy to present their cooperation with one of our personla heroes and one of the very big names in early house music: johnny dangerous aka foremost poets.
